Partnership Provides Free Dental and Eye Care to More than 100 Pittsburgh Children

A partnership between United Concordia Dental, Davis Vision and the Pittsburgh Pirates organization provided free dental and eye care services to more than 100 uninsured and underinsured kids, at a value of more than $11,000, on June 29 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

The dental and vision screenings helped identify children who are needed an examination by professionals who can diagnosis potential problems and prescribe appropriate treatment. The earlier that dental or vision problems are detected, the more successful the treatment is likely to be.

In addition to the screenings, participants enjoyed board games, balloon creations, hot dogs and a visit by the Pittsburgh Pirates Parrot. Following the screenings, the children watched a Pirates baseball game against the Chicago Cubs.

The community-based screening offered by Davis Vision, United Concordia Dental, and the Pirates provided Pittsburgh children and their parents with a better understanding of the importance of good dental and vision health to a child?s development. Tickets for Kids, a nonprofit that creates opportunities for children to experience arts, cultural, educational, sporting and family entertainment events, also helped make these screenings a reality.
